Main Hall plus Stage

Capacity: Capacity: 120 seated or 150 standing, (including balcony 20 seated). Click for floor plan, dimensions and furniture.

Recently redecorated to enhance its impressive features including the striking vaulted ceiling and a rustic timeworn floor, this intimate space has an enchanting feel to it, as though stepping back in time. It currently hosts dance and keep fit classes, wedding receptions, beer festivals and other celebrations. The main hall complete with stage is a versatile space that can offer both wired and wireless microphones so even corporate events can be accommodated, not forgetting ample kitchen facilities capable of catering for your function.

Reading Room

Capacity: 48 seated or 60 standing. Click for floor plan.

The Barlow’s all new coffee bar offers some of the finest specialty coffee and teas around, served in cosy and comfortable surroundings, it really is the perfect place to relax and watch the world go by. It can also be used in conjunction with the Main Hall as a bar and small dining area for larger events.

Opening Times: 9.00 to 16.30 Monday to  Friday,

13.00 to 16.30 Saturday,  10.30 to 15.00 on Sundays.


Capacity: 40 seated or 50 standing.

As well as a vibrant community library open every Saturday morning (10 a.m. – 1.00 p.m.), the Library is also available for group meetings. So whether you’re simply looking to delve into a good read, or hunting for a unique meeting place, the Library can offer an inviting place for your gathering.

Cafe & Kitchen

Capacity: 30 seated.

Opening alongside the library, The Barlow’s cosy cafe is a lovely place to enjoy a pot of tea for two. Sit back and unwind with a good read or enjoy catching up with friends in this welcoming setting. The well-equipped kitchen offers a great place for food preparation and can be used in conjunction with other room to deliver your event just how you need it!

Meeting Room

Capacity: 10 Seated

The Meeting Room at The Barlow offers the ideal place to host a get-together whether it’s to discuss business affairs or the convening of your group. The room can hold 10 people alone and when combined with the rest of The Barlow facilities, it can deliver a fully flexible venue for your event. However long you need, it’s available for hire by the hour, so you can be sure we can tailor a package to perfectly suit you.

Billiards Room

Capacity: XX seated or XX standing.

Home to a full size billiards table, The Billiards Room is a great place to relax and enjoy a game or two. You can hire it by the hour or book it out for a whole day plus you can combine it with other facilities at The Barlow to create breakout rooms or simply for some additional space. Complete with a full table top cover, it can also provide a great place for a game of bridge, a business meeting and much more!
