Remember those who died
73 men from Edgworth, Entwistle and Chapeltown died in the conflict along with 28 men who had originally been at the National Children’s Home at Crowthorn. Many of those men died with the Canadian forces.
These men were not numbers or names carved in stone. They were people with wives, girlfriends, sisters, mothers and brothers. Read all their stories online at http://www.thebarlow.co.uk/ww1-project/
” I believe that one of the comforts to us all out here is that we know we shall always be honoured in the old village.”
Gerald Ainsworth, died Ypres Salient: 27th March 1918
